Kendall turns 1!

Kendall is 1!! We can't believe it's already been a year since we welcomed this little babe into our home. It's been a big year for us with Tyler graduating medical school and moving to Fort Worth for the next step of his training. Time has really flown by.

Kendall seems to have grown up overnight. On her birthday she woke up and said "Avery!" when she saw her big sister, which she has never said before. She also said like 3 more new words that day that we had never heard her say before. "spoon" was one of them. I think "baby" too. Oh, and "ba-boon!" (balloon). We filled up the living room with balloons for her to see when she woke up and she was pretty into it. She likes kicking them around.

Besides her new vocabulary, Avery started playing with Kendall really well on her birthday. Like now that she is officially into toddlerhood, Kendall is finally allowed to be her friend. It is so sweet to watch them together. Avery also started calling Kendall Kendall, rather than "Kennal" (no d) like she usually does. It was just so funny that all these things happened all at once making her first birthday feel more official.

We feel like our little baby is so grown up already. We keep telling Avery we can't call her Baby Kendall anymore, now she's just Kendall!

We had a really fun day celebrating. We actually celebrated her birthday a day early since Tyler was working all day Saturday and didn't even get to see Kendall at all on her real birthday.

In the morning we went to Avery's friend Ethan's birthday party at the Trampoline park. Both Avery and Kendall really like the tramp park so it was a fun way to spend Kendall's birthday. Ethan's birthday was super hero theme and his mom made the kids these super cute capes. They loved jumping around in them.

Sadie, Avery, Ethan

Kendall crawling around.

Mini capes for Audrey and Kendall! I was dying from the cuteness.

Kendall loves bouncing.

We went back to Ethan's house for cupcakes and presents.
Sadie and Avery are modeling the capes and masks.

I think Kendall liked the cape and mask the best out of anybody. She would pull the mask off her face and then immediately hold it out to the nearest person to put it back on her. She was pretty funny to watch toddling around in her superhero getup.

Super Kendall!

We had a super low key party for Kendall, but it was fun to have a couple families over to watch her smash her cake and open presents.
I made her little smash cake myself and it turned out really cute even though I am no good at cake decorating.

Tyler got an action shot.

Party time!

The kids (especially Avery) loved singing Kendall "Happy Birthday". It's Avery's new favorite song now. And she says "happy biiirthdaay to my baby Kendaaaall!!" every time and always blows out a pretend candle at the end.
Kendall pretends to blow out the candle too when she sings it.

Kendall mostly poked at the cake and licked frosting off the top.
About what I expected.

The older kids were more than happy to help with the present unwrapping.
(Notice Avery in her Snow White dress. All day, every day.)

So excited about the princess castle!

We had a fun, busy day and I think Kendall felt the love. The girls are both having lots of fun with all of Kendall's new toys.

My friend Allison took Kendall's 1 year old pictures a few days before her birthday. She sent me a couple to tide me over until she has time to edit the rest. They turned out so cute! Kendall is such a sweetie and I think her personality shows in the pictures. She really is such a sweet, good-natured baby.

After all those glamour shots, don't forget the real Kendall....
I gave her a sucker to keep her awake in the car on the way home from church. (I don't like wasting 15 minutes of her nap time driving the car. Mama needs her full 1.5 hour of free time!)
The sucker didn't work this week though. She was out cold by the time we pulled in the garage.
