Tyler turned 25 yesterday and we have had a fun time celebrating this week.
One of Tyler's favorite things is breakfast so we had to have a special breakfast for his b-day.
Unfortunately, Tuesday is one of the days I have to work away from home (meaning I have to leave really early) so we decided to make breakfast on Monday - his Birthday Eve!
One of the things we miss about living in Utah is Magleby's french toast. Luckily, my aunt has a reeeeeally good recipe that is pretty much just as good.
So we made that!
Also, Monday we had seriously the best weather ever here. It has been so hot and sticky, but on Monday it cooled off into the 70s and it wasn't humid and it even had a nice cool breeze. We couldn't get enough! I wanted to call in sick to work so I could stay outside and play.
After we went to the gym me and Tyler walked around the track outside a few times. When he got back from class we went outside to throw the frisbee around a little bit. It was heavenly.
The best part is that we shut off the AC and opened up all the windows to get some fresh air in the apartment. I had forgotten how nice that is!
(Sadly that lasted only 2 days and we finally gave in and had to turn the AC back on. Maybe next week...)
Anyway, also on Monday we had Cafe Rio, which is another thing we miss about Utah and one of Tyler's favorite meals. Again, couldn't pull that together when I'm gone all day at work so we had to do it a day early.
Luckily, the recipe makes a ton so we've been having Cafe Rio all week!
On Tuesday, which was Tyler's actual birthday, I was gone all day, but I got up early to run to the donut shop near our house and leave some of his favorite donuts for him for when he woke up.
When I got home we got to open presents.
Here's our birthday boy with his pile of presents.
A couple of highlights....
Tyler's parents sent him the latest BYU football t-shirt.
Tyler loves any BYU shirts so this was a home run. (...touch down?)
This next present is Pistachio nuts and sewing scissors.
Let me explain.
When we were at my house a few weeks ago Tyler was constantly eating the stash of pistachios my mom keeps on her island in the kitchen.
Anyone who has eaten pistachios knows that some of those little nuts are tough to crack. Well, Tyler came up with a tool to crack the stubborn nuts.
You guessed it... sewing scissors!
The whole weekend he was showing anyone who would pay attention to him how great the little scissors were for opening the hard nuts.
I can hear him now... "K, look at this nut. You could never get this open with your hands. But with these little scissors... easy!"
haha
We loved this present. Good job, Mom!
After being around here for a year we've experienced the drastic weather changes. Every once in a while it will start pouring rain really, really hard for like 10 minutes and occasionally it happens right when Tyler has to leave for class. Luckily every time it's happened so far I've been around to give him a ride, but I'm afraid our luck won't hold out for another season.
So I decided to outfit Tyler with rain gear for the days I'm not around to rescue him.
Then, last night we had some friends over to help us celebrate with brownies and ice cream. Tyler did successfully blow out all 25 candles.
We also drew a picture of Tyler.
Pretty close, right? They got the peg leg and tattoos spot on.
After everyone left we watched a couple episodes of Modern Family (also a new present) before we went to bed.
It was a good day.
Happy Birthday, Tyler!
I'm happy I get to spend the next 25 years with you!

Magleby's french toast? I LOVE THAT! I will have to get that recipe from you...along with that coconut treat you brought over. You guys are so cute. And yes, the weather was amazing! Didn't expect that in Texas!
