We've been keeping busy while Tyler works the dreaded SICU rotation. I've been trying to stay out of the house as much as possible while he's working night shifts so we don't wake him up with all of our screeching.
Last weekend we were invited to our friend's Puppy Party! I think all of Avery and Kendall's dreams came true at this party. Both of them, but especially Avery, are becoming big-time animal lovers. They play puppy all the time and beg to pet every dog we come across. And the other day when Tyler caught Avery a gecko I let her keep it for a day in a tupperware and when I finally made her let it go (for fear of it dying of starvation in our box) she cried real, sobbing tears of sadness. (Not tantrum, fake tears). She tells me every day she misses "Bell the yecko" and ask me when she's coming back.
Anyway, the puppy party was too cute for words and it may have weakened my resolve ever so slightly that we will never, ever own a dog.
Luckily the girls each had a puppy shirt to wear to the party.
Puppy ears and noses!
The puppies! Little boxers. They were the cutest! And extremely tolerant of children. Avery just ran around picking them up and putting them down for an hour straight. Look how happy she is! Ugh. If only dogs didn't poop...
Awww!
The other fun thing we did was to take a little road trip down to San Antonio to visit some of our friends from Galveston who just started residency there. I was planning to do some stops on the way down and make it a fun road trip, but I had to take the car in to get the A/C repaired and it wasn't done until the afternoon so we just had to drive straight through. But the girls did great and it was so fun to spend a couple days with our friends!
Watching a show with Clementine.
Avery and Clementine holding hands. They were cute together and would swing on Clementine's swing set together. I think they would be pretty good little buddies if we lived closer.
Avery and Kendall feeling the baby in Lizzie's tummy. Avery kept asking, "Can I see the baby?" haha
I really loved chatting it up with Lizzie for two days straight. I feel so bonded to all of our friends in Galveston. They really feel like family to me. And Lizzie is so fun and easy to talk to and it's so nice to have someone to relate to about the struggles of the medical journey. It was so refreshing and relaxing to me to visit with her. I love this girl! I am definitely going to have to make another trip!
We had a leisurely trip back to Fort Worth. We stopped in Waco to go to the children's museum, which they loved. They spent probably an hour in this pioneer room just pretending and I had to pull them away at closing time!
We also stopped at In-N-Out for a chocolate shake, which I barely got any of because they sucked it down so fast! Probably for the best...
This week my mom is coming to visit us for all the Halloween festivities! We are so excited for her visit!
