San Antonio

This past week we spent a couple days in San Antonio. Tyler has the month off so we are trying to do some fun things to make the most of his time off. My uncle and his family live in San Antonio and they were nice enough to let us come stay with them for a couple nights. It was really fun to catch up with them after not seeing them for so many years. They have a (13?) year-old son who I thought was just the coolest. He was a sweet kid and even let us sleep in his room. What a guy!

It was so nice to have a homey place to crash instead of coming home to a hotel. Thanks Carl, Yvette, and Lantz for being such great hosts!!

My aunt has a little yorkie dog that was the cutest thing ever. The dog really liked Tyler. And Avery really liked her! Avery took a few minutes to warm up to the dogs and then started bossing them around like she owned the place.

Wednesday we spent at Sea World!

We watched the documentary Blackfish last year and decided we were definitely boycotting SeaWorld. But then we really wanted to see Shamu so... here we are! Avery loved the Orca show. I was surprised that it kept her attention, but she was into it!

I really loved it too. I seriously got emotional the first time the whale jumped out of the water because I am a weirdo. They even had two baby whales. Aww!

We also went to the Beluga Whale show and that was really fun. Lots of acrobatics and the trainers could actually swim with the whales which was cool.

We also got to do the roller coasters!! I'm on that one!
The weather was a little on the chilly side so the park wasn't that busy and you could walk onto the rides. I love roller coasters so Tyler let me run off and do them while he watched the kids. Of course they were so much fun that when I came back I made him go do it too.

Avery needed a little snooze to make it through the day.
(Our double stroller has been awesome! I'm so glad we got it.)

At the dolphin pool.

We really loved our visit. Sea World wasn't what I was expecting. It was more like Disneyland and less like the zoo than I was expecting, but it was still really fun and I think Avery really liked it.

The next day my aunt and uncle took us to lunch down in San Antonio. We ate at Mi Tierra, a Mexican restaurant that was super good. I definitely recommend it! After we had lunch we checked out the Mexican market outside.

Yvette bought Avery this cute little head piece. Avery has been wearing it or playing with it ever since.

Avery and Yvette. Avery always does this when people squat down to get on her level... she does the same thing. ha

Saying goodbye to Carl, Yvette, and Lantz.

We wanted to check out the Alamo and the River Walk while we were in town.
Tyler had to get a picture by the Crockett Hotel since Davy was his childhood hero... apparently. Almost 5 years of marriage and I'm still learning things about this guy :)

The Alamo!

The River Walk!
This part of the trip would have been much more fun without Avery.
She didn't like that she had to hold our hand the whole time (so she wouldn't fall in) and I think she was just having a rough day. We did the boat tour and Avery was really cranky the whole time so that was a bummer. Also I had to nurse Kendall and I was sitting right next to these gay guys who were clearly uncomfortable with the whole thing. It was just awkward for everyone.
Oh well. The River Walk was beautiful!
Some day I will go back with just Tyler and have a nice romantic dinner.

How cute is this little chub, though? (not me)

After the River Walk we drove back home to Galveston and thereby successfully survived our first trip with two kids! We had a great time, but I'm glad we get a few days to rest up before the next one.

We are anxiously waiting for an email tomorrow morning to confirm that Tyler matched into an EM program and then the celebrating will begin!

Waaaayyyy fun to see the photos!!!!
I loved seeing Avery's smile at the show and your little chub in your pack is adorable! Avery looks so cute wearing the "crown" Yvette got her. Tyler looks like he's warming up to the dog pet idea...
