Avery and I had a really nice visit with my parents in Colorado. I was feeling like we'd been away from home too long and ready to get back to our normal routine, but we still had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Engstrom. They spoiled me and of course Avery rotten and it was fun to be pampered for a bit before I had to come home and do everything for myself again.
Avery was Grandma's little shadow. She wanted to do everything with Grandma! They watered the flowers...
And the grass...
And then of course Avery needed a drink.
Avery loved to hang out on the deck while Grandpa did yard work like mowing the lawn.
Avery loves corn on the cob.
We stopped at IKEA on the way back from visiting my dad at work one day. Avery got to try out a million chairs, which she loved. Climbing onto chairs is a favorite activity of hers these days.
She and Grandma also tried out some of the beds together.
Playing with Grandpa.
Grandpa letting Avery taste-test some of the home made ice cream.
My mom was happy to play with and entertain Avery all day long so I took advantage of all my free time and worked on some sewing projects! Lots and lots of sewing projects.
I found a really fun/easy tutorial for these little cosmetic bags that were so fun to make. They turned out so cute!
Avery helping Grandpa fix the light switch.
And helping Grandma take down decorations from my brother's wedding open house they had the weekend before we got there.
My mom got up with Avery every morning we were there so I could sleep in. I always found them snuggled in bed playing on Grandma's ipad together. So sweet!
Me and Avery took lots of trips to the park. The weather in Colorado is so perfect this time of year. Avery mastered the slides while we were there.
Static hair!
This picture of her on the swing cracks me up every time. She's not a huge fan of the swing.
I got to visit my friend Christy and her little boy Oliver who is the same age as Avery. They had a lot of fun playing at the park together.
Of course once Avery found the mud puddle there was no stopping her from playing in it.
More park time with Grandma!
All of the little bags I made!
I will be giving these to my YW tomorrow night at mutual for a back-to-school event we have planned. Lucky girls.
Avery trying out her little chair from IKEA. Perfect for book reading.
Somehow she convinced Grandma to get in the laundry basket with her.
Someone has Grandma wrapped around her little finger...
Me at 27 weeks pregnant! Time is flying...!
I also got to visit our friends from med school, the Hobbs.
I just miss those guys so much. Some day we will be neighbors again.
Jason with baby Skyler in the pouch. Adorable!
We hiked up a little trail in Boulder for just a few minutes. I love the mountains. Some day I will return!
Aren't the Hobbs just the cutest family?!
I also got to spend some time with my friend Caitlin and her two kids before they move to GERMANY(!) in a couple months. One day we took the kiddos to Monkey Buizness, which is a glorified into playground with slides and bouncy castles and all sorts of things to climb on. Avery loved it. And since then she thinks she knows how to climb up anything.
All my completed sewing projects! Whew! That is a lot for 2.5 weeks!
It was really fun and I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of this sewing thing.
I also got to make a necklace at a RS activity my mom and I attended.
We left Avery with Grandpa for the evening and stayed out till 11 working on our necklaces!
The last night we were there my parents treated me to Cafe Rio! They just built this one 15 minutes away from my parents house. Now I don't have to wait for trips to Utah for this delicious food!!!
Avery and I finally made it back to Galveston after our flight being re-routed to San Antonio for bad weather in Houston. Avery was so, so good on the the flights but I was at my whits end. She had to sit on my lap the whole time and there is not much lap left these days!
Also I felt terrible for delaying my friend who was picking me up from the airport. Not a good day overall, but somehow we made it through!
I took Avery to McDonald's that night and guess who happened to be there?!
Avery's new favorite thing is watching Let It Go on youtube and I think she was super confused to see the "real" characters in real life. She was mesmerized!
I collected Tyler from the airport on Saturday and we are finally reunited! It is so good to be home. On Sunday we went up to Pearland to visit a few of his old mission companions.
And now we are on to the rest of 4th year and hopefully lots of interviews!
