I survived my first month of being a working mom! I was really worried how it was going to work out, but everything has gone so smoothly. I couldn't do it without my friend Trisha who is watching Avery while I work until Tyler gets home. Trisha has an 18-month-old daughter, Ava, who LOVES Avery. It is so cute watch her with Avery. She is going to be the best big sister. I thought I would be sad to leave Avery with someone else for a couple hours, but I think it's actually really good for Avery. Trisha got her degree in early childhood education and she is so good with Avery and teaches me how to interact and stimulate her and all that good stuff. Also, this might be weird because Avery is not even 4 months old yet, but I swear she gets bored at our apartment! She loves getting out and seeing new things so I think she likes the change of scenery at Trisha and Ava's house.
So that is a huge relief for me that Avery is being taken care of someone who is so good to her and enjoys having her around (at least she tells me she does!)

Avery always sleeps with her hands on her chest like she's in a casket.
I am loving working part-time right now. I only work 15 hours a week and it is perfect. I feel like I have such a better balance in my life and I feel like I have time for other things instead of just being 100% work and squeezing in everything else on the side.

Never move a sleeping baby. Just barricade them so they don't fall off the couch.
Tyler started his second rotation in his internal medicine rotation and still isn't loving it, but it seems like he's getting his routine figured out ok. He's figured out how to squeeze in a work out at the gym most days, which I am really impressed with. It would be so easy to give up on it, but he's fitting it in and I'm really proud of him for that. Now I can tell all my clients that I know someone with a wife and kid who is in medical school and can still find time to work out, so they have no excuse!

Avery loves to sit on Tyler's lap while he's on the computer. I'm always amazed how long she is entertained by this.

My grand-grandma (Avery's great great grandma) crocheted this dress and blanket for me when I was a baby. My mom saved them both and now Avery gets to use them! I loved that blanket and took it with me everywhere till I was probably 6 so it gives me warm fuzzies to have it around again. It's like having an old friend back. By the way, Avery's great great grandma who made these is still alive! |

Avery loves Keeping up with the Kardashians.... I mean PBS.

Who's the Dr. and who's the assistant?
I feel like we're equally far-off!
Avery is so cute!! I love her little sleeping position and how she watches the tv and computer. When Trevor is watching supercross Tanner just stares at the tv with his mouth gaping open. Glad everything is going good with your job!
She is a beauty, even a SLEEPING ONE!! I'm so relieved you have things working so great with Trisha and Ava, what a blessing they are for you! I'm thrilled she's my little cute granddaughter!!! :)
I'm impressed. Balancing working out with family and med school was not easy for us. We did better some times than others. Hope internal goes by quickly. There are other really fun (or more fun) rotations!
