Mardi Gras has arrived in Galveston and Tyler and I thought we should check it out. It opened last Saturday with a family friendly parade and we joined some friends from the ward to watch it on the Seawall.
Here's Tyler after we watched the parade for like 5 minutes. The floats would throw out candy and toys occasionally, but mostly beads. Lots and lots of beads.
Our favorite float was the UTMB - School of Medicine float. It had all sorts of couches and armchairs stuck to it, loaded with Med students, and just reeked of alcohol. The students on the float weren't passing out beads or anything, I think they were too drunk to realize what was going on. Way to represent, UTMB!
Here's a picture of Lawson Anderson just because I thought he looked so cute/funny. It was pretty chilly that day to he was all bundled up. We kept loading him up with more beads :)
Last Saturday was also our friend Tim's birthday so we had a little get together to celebrate. Of course, since it was the start of Mardi Gras, the Birthday Boy had to sport everyone's beads from the parade that morning.
Here's Tim and his wife Jen getting ready to cut the birthday cake.
| Happy Birthday, Tim! |
We hear that this weekend is when the real Mardi Gras celebrations get under way...
