Boo at the Zoo and other fun

We are soooo excited that Tyler's surgery rotation is finally over! (Last day today!) We are hoping, but not optimistic, that he makes it home for treat-or-treating tonight. We are looking forward to getting back to the normal busy of the ED rotations. Here's some of the fun we've had the last couple weeks.

Days that Tyler works the night shift sort of feel like he has a day off because he doesn't have to go in until 7pm. So he can come do fun things like go to the park with us!

We had a special treat and went to McDonald's for lunch. And had dipped cones for dessert!
(Avery's hair is ALWAYS a mess. Mom fail.)

Kendall had as much fun on the McDonald's playplace as Avery. Before we knew it she had crawled all the way to the top!

A new indoor play room opened up here in town. It was really cute and Avery had a blast. It's a lot like the Children's Museum in Galveston, but I like the Galveston one better. Still, I think we will be going here a lot especially when the weather is bad.

Tyler's day off magically lined up with Boo at the Zoo! It was pouring rain all morning and I was so sad because I had been talking it up to Avery all week and I was afraid we wouldn't be able to go. But we decided to try anyway and it only down poured for about 10 minutes while we were there and the rest of the time was great!

Avery's favorite thing is to feed the birds. Every time we go she digs a half eaten seed stick out of the trash, just like Grandma Hedman showed her ;)

We brought a picnic lunch to eat at the zoo.

Our little mouse exploring.

She won't stand still to let me take a picture! Always on the move.

The girls watching the monkeys while we hid inside during the rainstorm.

We decided to try painting pumpkins this year instead of carving them so Avery could participate a little bit more.
She was a huge fan.

Tyler did a great job on Kendall's pumpkin!
(I can't believe I didn't get a picture of all of them! I think Tyler has it on his phone.)

We had beignets and hot chocolate for family night treat. We got to use our mugs from Weihnachtsmarkt that we got from when my parents were living in Germany.

Avery may have had more whipped cream than hot chocolate.

The beignets!

Tyler was working the night of the ward trunk or treat. I sent him this picture of Avery after she finally fell asleep at 11:30. I thought kids getting hyped up on candy was a made up thing, but she was bouncing off the walls all night. Like literally bouncing on the couch, running in circles, and jumping and bouncing all over the house. Looks like I have to be mean mom and regulate the candy.

We got sick this week. Everyone except Kendall. Tyler got it the worst and couldn't keep down anything, even water. He still went into work after throwing up all night, just had a nurse give him an IV so he could get some fluids and work his 12 hour shift. He kept his IV in and brought more fluids home so he could keep hydrated and go in for his next shift. Apparently calling in sick is not an option on a surgery rotation.

IV bag hanging on the window.

Sewing is impossible right now. I never have the time because I can't do it when Avery and Kendall are awake and one of them is always awake!
But I did manage to get this high chair cover done yesterday since we were just home sick all day. It was not easy though.
Also, the tutorial I followed was really lousy, but it was the only one I could find for my specific high chair. So I am pretty happy that it turned out at all!

My little model.

The old one. Ewww...

We are hoping for no rain tonight so we can trick-or-treat!
