Happy One Month Birthday to Baby Avery!

Avery is one month old today! A whole month! I can't believe she's been around that long! Time has really flown by.

My first month of being a mom has had its ups and downs.

It has been a huge adjustment for me to give up so much sleep. I liked a good 8-9 hours a night pre-baby. I'm not sure I'll ever get to sleep that much again!

Avery eats every 3 hours like clockwork, and the first couple of weeks were pretty rough with sleep because she ate so frequently and it took so long.

Now she usually goes for 4 hour stretches at night (and I've gotten 5 hours out of her twice!) and that helps a lot.

I've learned that to survive I've got to take a nap sometime during the day or I am miserable by the next day.

It's also been hard to get anything done around here. I spend so much time breastfeeding that I can barely keep up with keeping things sort of clean around here and making dinner.

It's also really hard to run errands. I haven't been taking her with me because there is way too much baby gear required to leave the house with her so I go by myself and leave her with Tyler, but I usually only have like an hour between feedings to make it to the store and back.

I'm going to be sad when Tyler isn't around anymore to watch her if I have to leave. It's so much work to load and unload her at every stop!

That is the worst of it though. Everything else I LOVE.

I love holding my little baby. She loves to be held and I could spend the entire day just sitting on the couch holding her. She is so cuddly! 

I love her little baby cry. She rarely cries except when she's hungry and I love it when she starts crying and I get to go pick her up and comfort her. She loves her mama and I love being the one to calm her when she's upset.

Lately she's started crying when she is pooping/tooting and we think it is the funniest thing ever. She will wake up out of a deep sleep and make her cute little cry and then let out a HUGE toot and settle right back down. It's hilarious.

The last week or so she has become much more alert when she is awake.

She actually makes eye contact now and sometimes follows us with her eyes. 

When she's awake (which isn't much), we love talking to her and trying to get her to look at us.

And this girl makes the funniest faces! We can't get enough of them!

Most of the time she looks like she is trying to figure things out or that she's confused. It's so hard not to laugh at her cute faces and double chin! We love it when she smiles, which I still think is by accident when it happens, but she looks precious all the same.

This girl hates pacifiers. I can't get her to take one! I guess it's fine though since she doesn't really cry, but I've been surprised by that. What baby doesn't use a pacifier??

However, she does like Mozart!

Tyler put some on for her when she was restlessly sleeping and she settled right down.

We are having so much fun with our little Avery.

We're so glad she's a part of our family!
