A few weeks ago I went to the newest attraction of Galveston Island: Pleasure Pier. I went with a couple of my friends, Adriane and Diana. While we were there Tyler texted me and asked. "How is it?" To which I replied, "Pretty pleasurable!" And it was.
Actually, truth be told, I don't think I get the same rise out of amusement parks that I once did. It was pretty fun to ride the roller coaster, but unlike the 10-year-old kid who was sitting in front of us and had ridden the ride
"eighteen, no NINEteen" times, I was satisfied with just one crack at it.
For the non-Galvestonian people who read this blog, Pleasure Pier is a small amusement park built on a pier out into the water. For just being one small Pier, there are quite a few attractions on there including a full-blown roller coaster and a ferris wheel.
Besides the fact that it causes horrible traffic around 25th street now, I kind of like it. They put lights on all the rides so when you drive along the Seawall at night you can see all the rides lit up over the water and it's pretty sweet.
We were expecting it to be packed when we went, but there were no lines on any of the rides so we pretty much just walked on to each of them.
We ended up having to take a little break for a while just to stop our heads from spinning! Nope, I'm definitely not 10 anymore.
Anyway, it was pretty fun to check it out and here are a couple pictures from our visit.

We had a busy day for the Fourth of July.
In the morning Tyler and I both got to play racquetball vs our rivals and afterward we went swimming in our pool to cool off. The best part about that was playing with our little neighbor, Blake! He is such a cutie!
Later on we had a super tasty BBQ with a hamburger recipe I found on Pinterest and more food than we could eat in a week. Just like it should be.
Galveston had a parade in the evening and we met up with a few people from the ward to watch that before the fireworks.
The parade was lame, but the fireworks were great! They set off a good show over the water and billions of people were camped out on the beach to watch. After the official show all those billions of people started setting off their own fireworks that would most definitely not be legal where I grew up. It started to get a little dicey and I finally know where all the terrible fireworks accident stories originate from. (It's hard to imagine fireworks accidents when you're only exposure to them are those little poppers packaged in sawdust.)
But we were pretty impressed with the fireworks show and had a fun time hanging out with some friends from the ward.

Happy Fourth of July!!
